My Travel Essentials

The timing for this post could not be more perfect! As of five minutes, ago Kevin and I just booked our first trip since the pandemic! We haven’t traveled since Patagonia in February 2020 and will be heading to Tulum, Mexico the day this post goes live! It seems like a very appropriate time to share my (long) list of travel essentials. When I started traveling a lot, I went through a lot of trial and error and resourceful blog posts from other junkies to hone my own ‘travel musts’ list. After several trips - both international and domestic - I think I’ve nailed it. And I want to give it a permanent place to live online, so here we are!

The Basics
These are the basic essentials for more. Of course it varies a bit depending on where I’m going and the length of flight, but these are items I almost always have with me if I’m getting on an airplane. I linked a bun of favorites for you guys too!

Away Luggage: I almost always need a checked bag, especially when hosting retreats and bringing lots of swag, so I’m super mindful of weight. I love that Away is lightweight and I am a sucker for their white!

I learned about packing cubes years ago and swear by them to keep my clothing and gear organized.

Compression socks are a must for me on any flight over six hours. I even recently bought a leg sling to help me keep my feet elevated on long flights. I don’t fly business or first class so ya girl’s gotta get creative!

Fewer Plastics: I always use reusable silicone containers for shampoo, conditioner, lotions, body wash, etc. I travel with my own silverware as well as a water bottle to stay extra hydrated!

Everything below is my list I’ve perfected over the last few years. It’s got everything from my passport to all my makeup. It’s pretty detailed so I’d take a screenshot or pin it for later so you’ll always have it for every trip!

Skyn Iceland eye patches to wear under my sleep mask

Small makeup bag for carry-on:

Extras

I often bring a hat when I travel so those come with me on the plane as well!

I also always have my Liforme Yoga mat slung over a shoulder.

When I’m traveling to or from somewhere cold, I usually have a scarf with me to double as banket. I am always cold!

I also started traveling with a collapsible travel kettle, instant coffee and bone broth! I’ve been to many places without and love having it!

It’ll feel so surreal to open up a suitcase again to start filling it, but off I go! Happy packing!
