Everything I Love From My Living Room

Hiya, friends! Writing about home stuff is a little outside the norm for me, but believe it or not, I get a lot of questions about my house and how I’ve decorated it. Probably because I do most of my yoga at home and you get a pretty good look at it as the backdrop in a lot of my videos. I’m happy to share these details with you guys and maybe even provide a little inspiration for you. For me, your home should be a space you love being in, which is what I’ve tried to do with my little space here in Seattle.

I’m not exactly what you would call a home decor expert or any kind of designer, but there are a few elements I’ve incorporated into my living room that make me especially happy when I’m spending time there (which is quite a bit working from home most days!). I’ve listed them out below, but these do not have to look the same for you! Just something for you to think about when trying to decorate your space. Ultimately just think about what makes you happy and do that!

Here are the elements that make me happy:

Cozy textures

Maybe it’s because I live in Seattle and we have lots of grey, overcast days, but I love a room with a good cozy vibe. This idea is what inspired my couch and all the pillows that followed. I chose lighter colors because I didn’t want the space to feel too heavy, but all the textures make this such a great space for me and the kids to spend time in.

Plants

Some might call me a plant lady, and I suppose I am based on the number of plants I have in my house. I just love the liveliness plants bring to a space! They have the power to instantly make a room feel more personalized and homey. Plus if you have kids it’s a great opportunity to teach them about taking care of things and responsibility. Bottom line though, when it doubt about what your space needs, add a plant!

Decor that inspires me

This is why you see so much art on my walls filled with prints that remind me of some of my favorite places. Like this Bali print and this amazing gold foil Seattle map. My perspective is if I surround myself with things that inspire me, I’ll feel motivated to work towards them. Also, who doesn’t love looking at cute things all day that make them smile? Cue this highland cow print. I find most of my artwork on Etsy, which makes things really budget-friendly.

I hope this is helpful to anyone who has asked about my space or simply needs a few ideas on what to do with theirs!
