New Yoga Studio Inspo
We are getting SO closes to finally opening the doors on our home yoga studio!! This has been something on the back burner since we moved into our home in October 2020 and we finally pushed go in July of 2023! Crazy to think Leo was only two months old then! Permitting took forever but we finally started framing in September ’23 and I wanted to share some of what inspired us!
When looking for our home we knew we wanted a separate space for a yoga studio. One where we could have our own place to practice and for me to film content for my app. I think we started and stopped the journey as things kept coming up. Our wedding, yoga retreats, and our surrogacy journey with Leo to name a few.
Our home came with a large detached carport. Think six posts, a roof, and cement slab. We immediately knew it would one day house our studio but little did we know how involved this process would be. Doing it with a newborn was just an extra little bonus - haha!
My brain works in a way that needs a lot of photo inspiration. Enter, Pinterest! There were a few things I knew we wanted, large wood plank floors, an exposed wrapped truss, an accent wall for filming, black grid windows, TONS of natural light, and storage. Beyond that, Pinterest of 4th win.
I thought it would be fun to share some of the inspiration I took from Pinterest that I wanted to incorporate into our studio. We started with wanting one giant room but as life changed a bit and Kevin started working from home, we added a separate space for an office as well as for his Dad’s grand piano (was left to Kevin after he passed away).
Overall I think I wanted a classic look with maybe some Mediterranean style. I love arches, bright spaces, natural wood, minimalism, and just a peaceful escape for work. Keep scrolling for specific inspo I plan on incorporating into the new space.
By the way, you can find all my design inspo and more on my Pinterest page!
I absolute love this large steel door! Definitely added to our list!
The goal is to have a lot of natural light! Seattle can get very dark for lots of months and for content and mood boosting we know we want as many windows on our west facing wall is a YES!
We have an exposed truss and our hope is to wrap with exposed beams running down the walls.
I’m still a little unsure of our main accent wall but I’m leaning toward shiplap.
And once we decided on a separate office space I immediately knew I wanted a sliding glass wall!! Oh THIS I am so beyond excited about!
And by having the grids in the windows…I can’t wait for the light to shine down on the floor!
The inspiration is endless! We’ll end up having 700 extra square feet of space for our office, gym, and studio space! It’s going to be so good when it’s all done!
