Our Home Gym
While I was an active kid growing up (basketball and rowing crew) I didn’t start actively ‘working out’ as an adult until 31 when I found yoga. I had trained at a gym some before finding yoga but it was intermittent at best. Yoga checked all the boxes for me for years until I bought my Peloton Bike. That opened a whole new obsession. From there, I started doing bodyweight exercises and released my 300 Rep Challenge which lead to me getting wrapped up in strength. Abs, upper body workouts, and incorporating dumbbells found their way into the mix and kept things exciting PLUS my yoga practice improved immensely with the newfound strength. Around the time we started building our home studio I was telling Kevin that I wanted a bench, barbell, and some plates for lower body exercises. That obviously evolved into what you see in our new space and we LOVE our new equipment! So, I’m sharing all the details of the space:
Dumbbells: We currently have a set we found at Costco from 5 lbs - 30 lbs but would love to expand on that to be 5 lbs to 100 lbs at some point.
Squat Rack: We got the Ares Cable Attachment (6-Post) Series 5000 squat rack and it is amazingggg. It is a squat rack, pull up bar, cable machine and more all in one machine! It’s a really great option if you have a smaller space and can’t fit a ton of equipment in. You can customize any of their racks depending on what size, equipment, etc. you are looking for. We did matte black for the full rack as well.
Plates: We have pairs of plates from 5 lbs to 45 lbs.
Weight Storage Horns (to hold our plates on the rack)
Weight Stack Upgrade (so our cable machine has an extra 50lbs per side)
Multi-Grip Pull Up Bar Standard J Cups (what hold the barbell in place for squats/bench)
Dip Station Leg Roller (to stabilize you in an exercise like Lat Pull Downs)
Barbell Hanger (storage)
Spring Clips (so secure plates to bar)
Barbell Shoulder Pad
Tricep Rope
Ankle Cuff (for all the cable glute exercises)
Colorado Bar (our barbell)
Curl Bar
Triangle Row
Flip Down Safeties (what is used if we have to bail during an exercise for safety)
Bench: For the bench we chose the BlackWing™ Adjustable Bench in matte black.
Plyo Box: These are great for box jumps, hip thrusts, step ups and so much more! I definitely recommend getting at least one for you home gym. I have the Small which measures 16’ x 18’ x 20
Bike: If you’ve been around since 2021 you know I LOVE my Peloton Bike. I have the first generation bike and it’s truly one of my favorite things! I do have the app and some favorite instructors for the rides!
Treadmill: The Peloton Tread joined my lineup in March of 2023 but I didn’t start using it until a year later when we finished the studio. Running is now my newest thing and I’m slowly learning to feel the high! Maybe I’ll sign up for a race…someday! (I’ve been saying this since I was 20!)
Yoga Mats: Liforme is my absolute favorite brand and is all you’ll see me use! RISINGUPSTRONGER saves you 10% on every purchases.
Yoga Blocks: A good set of Cork Blocks is a great staple for yoga.
That’s everything! And at the end of the day you really don’t need ALL of this equipment to get a good workout in. You really just need a couple sets of dumbbells, a mat, and some bands and you are good to go!
